Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, Niger State Command, have arrested the ward head of Sabon-Danduru of Paiko and two others over allegations of theft and receiving stolen motorcycles.
The suspects arrested by the Police operatives attached to Paiko Division are: Hussaini Mohammed 45 years, Isah Umar 20 years, and Hussaini Ibrahim 25 years of Bosso area, Minna over allegations of stealing and receiving stolen motorcycles while 26 motorcycle number plates were recovered.
This is contained in a press statement issued and made available to the newsmen on Wednesday in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) in charge of the Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun.
He stated further that one Hussain Ibrahim was arrested on 26/06/2023 for being suspected to have stolen two Jincheng Motorcycles from Tudun Fulani area of Minna on 12/06/2023 which led the Police team to Isah Umar at Danduru village, Paiko, who was being accused of aiding in the theft of motorcycles.
According to Abiodun, “during interrogation, the two suspects confessed to the crime and claimed that they stole about four motorcycles with one Nafi’u who is presently at large, and gave it to one Junaidu who also sold it to the Ward Head, Hussaini Mohammed.
Speaking further, Police spokesperson said, “the suspect also confessed that they do sell the motorcycles at the rate of 250, 000 and N150,000 to the ward head after which the receiver (Ward head) was later arrested on 08/07/2023 with the recovery of twenty-six motorcycle number plates and one fuel tank”.
Meanwhile, the ward head was said to have confessed that he does buy such motorcycles and he usually retrieves the number plates before reselling them.
According to the PRO, the case is under investigation at SCID Minna and all suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as the investigation is concluded.
However, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji, while speaking, appreciated Nigerlites for providing useful information which led to these achievements.
