Abia Police say they are hunting for a motorcyclist who took away three siblings in the Amaoba Ime Oboro community in the Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Confirming the incident today, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, said, “The matter was reported at the police divisional headquarters covering that area, and an investigation is ongoing.
“The motorcyclist absconded with the three children while conveying them home from school. The children are Gideon Osinachi, 8 years old (in primary two), Divine Osinachi, 6 years old (in nursery three), and 4-year-old Israel Osinachi (in nursery one).
Narrating how it happened, their mother, Madam Glory Osinachi, said, “It happened on Friday at about 4 pm while returning from my mother-in-law’s house.
“Whenever they were returning from school, they would stop over at my mother-in-law’s, and then later they would walk home or take a motorcycle.
She said that on that fateful Friday, her mother-in-law had put them on a motorcycle and paid the cyclist N100.
She disclosed that her children’s school, the mother-in-law’s house, and their house are within walking distance.
She knew something was wrong after her mother-in-law, in her usual style, came home to check on the children, and it was discovered that they never got home.
“The children closed school by 2 pm. This kind of thing has never happened before in this community,” she lamented.
Sources have it that members of the community have gone to the commercial cyclists association in the community to find out about the cyclists involved but were told that they have no members matching the description that the grandmother offered.
