Police Parade Suspected Killer of 34-Year-Old Ibadan-Based Online “Ponmo” Trader, 40 Others; Recovers N16M, 1,346 Rounds of Live Ammunition in Oyo.

The police have confirmed the arrest of the suspected killer of a 34-year-old Ibadan-based online “Ponmo” trader, Amdalat Afeez, along with 40 others at various locations in Oyo State.

Authorities also recovered N16 million, 1,346 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, and other items.

The Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi, paraded the suspects before the press at the State Police Command, Eleyele, Ibadan, on Friday.

Sonubi stated that the suspects were apprehended at different locations following intelligence reports.

The suspected killer of Amdalat, according to security reports, lured her to a hideout in Ologuneru, Ido Local Government Area of the state under the pretext of a business transaction.

The suspect, who has confessed to the crime, arrived at the location unaware that death awaited him. It was confirmed that the victim’s body was covered with sand.

According to the security report, Amdalat was killed with a plank, and her lifeless body was left at the scene.

One Ajao Babatunde of No. 48, Ore-ofe Community, Ologuneru, Ido Road, Ibadan, along with four others, went to the Eleyele Police Station and reported finding a lifeless, unidentified woman lying in a pool of her blood around 6:00 a.m. on the same date.

The complainant further reported that at about 8:00 a.m. that day, they saw the suspect, Bolarinwa Segilogbon, covering the blood of the deceased with sand. The suspect was apprehended based on timely information and has since voluntarily confessed to the crime.

The deceased, Amdalat Afeez, 34, sold “Ponmo” online. The suspect admitted to having met her online and requested a meeting to connect her with buyers for bulk purchases, but instead, he violently took her life when they met.

The suspect will be charged in court.

Additionally, 40 other suspects were paraded for various crimes, including kidnapping, rape, murder, ritual killings, and others.
