The Nigerian Police, Kogi State Command, has presented cheques worth over N32 million naira to 44 families of deceased police officers who died in active service and accident victims in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Akeem Yusuf, who presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun charged beneficiaries of Group Life Assurance/Group Personal Accident and IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme to use the money judiciously.
He said the gesture was part of the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident and IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme aimed at improving the welfare of the families of deceased Police Officers and to support police officers who became accident victim(s) while carrying out their duty, also to impassion other Officers in active service to be diligent.
Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration; DCP Ajewole Joshua Adedayo who represented the Commissioner of Police during the presentation of cheques to the affected officers and next of kins of the deceased officers stated that the Police recognizes the impact of the deceased Officers and the Force will always support the Family.
He also enjoined Police Officers who are accident victims to keep up their good work.
The DCP urged the beneficiaries not to misuse the money but make judicious use of the money for the betterment of their families as he wished them a safe journey back to their various destinations.
The beneficiaries, on their part, appreciate the IGP for the gesture and promise to make use of the money for the benefit of their families.
