Police has commenced investigation into the death of a 39-year-old man, Olusegun Tinubu, who was reportedly stabbed to death by his wife, Comfort Olalere Tinubu in Ibadan.

Comfort reportedly stabbed her husband to death over a minor disagreement at their Gbeyi-Adegbayi residence in Egbeda local government area on Wednesday.

Saturday Tribune gathered from a source close to the family that the deceased alleged his wife of locking him out of their bedroom for no reason.

This development, as reliably informed resulted in a hot argument which later degenerated into a serious fight between them.

The source added, “I got the call around 10:03 PM and I learned that they fought and she stabbed him but that he was rushed to the hospital.

“About 30 minutes later, I was called again that my younger brother was dead.

“When we reported the matter at the police station, she was asked what happened, she said my younger brother, her late husband accused her of locking the matrimonial bedroom door since around 7 am when she left the house and returning about 7 pm.

“She said the matter led to argument between the two of them but that fight started when the late husband came to slap her where she laid down breastfeeding their baby”

According to the source, another relative of the husband who is living with the couple was said to have interfered in the fight and separated them.

The relative was said to be staying with the couple because he was receiving medical treatment.

“After settling the fight, he went back to his room asking the husband to sleep in the living room.

But, not done it was gathered that Comfort went to attack the husband where he was lying down in the parlour and stabbed him in the back with the knife coming out at the front.

The husband was said to have screamed for help and slumped and was later confirmed dead by the time he got to the hospital.

The matter was initially reported at Gbagi Police Station but the case was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso said, “The case is under investigation at the Homicide Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Command. Updates will be provided accordingly, please”.
