No fewer than 10 arms have been recovered from some police officers who were gruesomely murdered in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli, Delta State, some weeks ago.
This was disclosed in a statement by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Abuja, on Tuesday.
“Following the recent tragic events in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli Delta State, where some police operatives were ambushed and gruesomely murdered, leading to the loss of thirteen (13) police rifles to the criminal suspects, the FID-IRT has successfully recovered ten (10) of these arms.
“During a coordinated operation, the gallant operatives of the FID-IRT engaged the suspects in a gun duel, which led to the neutralisation of some of the suspects while the police operatives successfully reclaimed ten (10) of the stolen weapons and recovered some arms used by the assailants,” he stated.
Recall that the policemen said to be on special duty to rescue some kidnapping victims were ambushed and cruelly murdered by suspected herdsmen.
The corpses of some of the slain policemen were recovered some weeks ago, despite initial denial by the police authorities of such an incident in the Ughelli axis of the state.
