In light of the planned nationwide protests, the Commissioner of Police for Niger State, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, psc, fsi, has underscored that while the right to peaceful protest is recognised, the Police Command will not tolerate any form of violent demonstrations in the state.
This was conveyed in a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Monday in Minna, the state capital.
The Commissioner of Police has directed the deployment of additional police personnel and operational assets in collaboration with other security agencies to monitor public spaces, safeguard critical government infrastructures, warehouses, and markets, and maintain law and order.
The statement further notes that if any demonstrations occur without prior notice to or coordination with the Police Command, the Command will ensure that such protests are not hijacked by miscreants aiming to disrupt public peace.
A show of force will be implemented as a crime prevention measure, aimed at deterring any threats and ensuring public safety.
The Commissioner of Police has warned parents, guardians, and potential miscreants to reconsider their involvement in any acts of violence.
He has called on the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies, assuring them that they can continue their daily activities without fear of intimidation or harassment.
