Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has appealed for the prayers, cooperation, and understanding of traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders, and politicians across party affiliations for peace, tranquillity, and prosperity to continue reigning supreme in the State and Nigeria as a whole.
The Governor made this appeal in his goodwill message to the people of the State on the occasion of the 2024 New Year celebration.
He expressed gratitude to God for guiding everyone through the challenges of the year 2023 and allowing them to witness the beginning of the new year 2024. He said, “I join the good people of Bauchi State and indeed all other Nigerians in celebrating the new year.”
Furthermore, he acknowledged that the year 2023 had its share of challenges in the economic, political, and social spheres of human life. However, he rejoiced that, to the glory of God Almighty, these challenges have been surmounted, and they are now entering the dawn of the new year, looking forward to a peaceful and prosperous 2024.
Governor Bala Mohammed congratulated the people of Bauchi State for overcoming the myriad challenges in 2023, highlighting their resilience in the face of economic downturns, ecological disasters, and security challenges.
He attributed their success to their trust in God, reinforced by collective prayers that helped them weather the storm.
He also noted the government’s achievements in the face of financial constraints, mentioning progress in areas such as road reconstruction, mass housing, urban renewal, education, agriculture, economic empowerment, and youth development.
Expressing gratitude to the citizens for their trust, he promised to raise the bar of performance during his second term and push the frontiers of progress, emphasizing socio-economic and political inclusion as a strategy for providing more dividends of democracy.
Governor Bala Mohammed stressed the importance of deepening consultation, stakeholding, and community engagement for good governance. He emphasized citizens’ rights and obligations and considered it the inalienable right of the people to hold the government accountable to the taxpayer.
Assuring continued commitment to security, he declared, “Criminals and their collaborators will have no safe haven in Bauchi State,” and called on the public to cooperate with security personnel by reporting suspicious movements or persons, highlighting that the fight against insecurity is a collective responsibility.
