As the world commemorates International Youth Day, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, President of the All Youths Reoriented Initiative of Nigeria (AYRION), has urged both federal and state governments to prioritise youth development, particularly through job creation and the establishment of an enabling environment to prevent future unrest.

Ambassador Oguntoyinbo also called on Nigerian youths to steer clear of social vices such as drug addiction, internet fraud, and other illicit activities that have become prevalent in the country. He emphasised the value of hard work, stating that it brings lasting wealth and peace without any regrets.

The AYRION President further advised that providing opportunities and a conducive environment for youths would keep them engaged, noting that if this had been done earlier, the recent protests against the government would not have gained traction.

He remarked, “Had the government been able to provide job opportunities for at least 70 per cent of Nigerian youths, they would not have been available to take to the streets in protest.”

Ajadi, who is also a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and was the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State in the 2023 election, stressed the importance of creating jobs to prevent future protests.

He affirmed his commitment to youth development, support for women, quality leadership, and peace in Nigeria, stating that these remain his lifelong priorities in the pursuit of a better nation.

“I am dedicated to youth development because the youth are the leaders of tomorrow. If we want a bright future for our country, we must take care of our youth. Nothing will deter me from promoting youth development. I am equally committed to promoting peace because, without peace, the nation cannot progress,” he concluded.
