The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the arrest of Heli Hassan, a 29-year-old man for vandalizing federal government installation of 95 rail track components.
The suspect after his arrest, confessed to having conspired with one Jacob Sulaiman (currently at large) to vandalize and steal the critical rail track components on the 24th of September, 2024, at about 2300 hours, in the vicinity of Inkil quarters, Bauchi.
Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili in a statement, affirmed that the development is a reiteration that the Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring public safety and security.
He stated that in a recent development, one suspect was apprehended and 95 stolen rail line components have been successfully recovered while its personnel were acting on credible information provided by the Bauchi Scraps and Wastes Dealers Association.
According to him, “This distressing incident poses a substantial threat to public safety and represents a severe act of economic sabotage as it pertains to a crucial infrastructure linking the Inkil community with Gombe State.”
The PPRO stated that the case has been meticulously documented for a comprehensive investigation, and measures are underway to apprehend Jacob Sulaiman, who remains at large.
He stressed that, “This achievement underscores the Command’s resolute dedication to safeguarding public assets and ensuring citizens’ safety through collaborative community efforts.”
