It was a bleek Monday for residents of AbesanEstste in Ipaja,Lagos as early morning rainstorm carted away roofs of some houses in the neighbourhood.
The rainstorm, which started around 3.30am, also uprooted some trees in the community.
According to one of the passers-by who raised the alarm, Mukaila Sanusi, the rainstorm wrecked havoc in Abesan Estate, removing roofs and uprooting trees.
He said some of the aluminum sheets were dangerously hugged electric poles and lines, calling for urgent external intervention to heal affected residents’ wounds.
“God, have mercy. The rainstorm wrecked havoc in Abesan Estate, removing roofs and uprooting trees. It is disaster in waiting as aluminium sheets dangerously hugged electric poles and lines.
“The community definitely needs external intervention to heal the wounds, “Sanusi said.
Abesan Estate, Ipaja is one of the Lagos State Government’s low cost housing schemes builts between 1980 and 1984 during the administration of Alhaji Latee fJakande.
