Nationnewslead report that HRM Oba Dr. Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa kingdom has urged all Nigerian Muslims to offer special prayers during the period for greater peace and security in the nation.
In his Ramadan message, the monarch also saluted all Muslims in Nigeria as they begin this year’s fast.
A statement by the monarch spokesperson, Awoyemi Olayinka, said “as they join fellow adherents of the faith in other parts of the world in undergoing the strictures and spiritual purification of the annual Ramadan fast against the background of security challenges in the country, Owaloko urges all Nigerian Muslims to offer special prayers during the period for greater peace and security in the nation.
Owaloko also called on Nigerians to eschew violence and refrain from actions and utterances that can lead to violence or chaos. “We should remain vigilant all the time and refrain from doing things and making utterances that can lead to violence or chaos. Let us all imbibe the spirit of love and peace which are the major symbols of Ramadhan,”
“As they observe the Ramadan, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe also calls on Nigerian Muslims to rededicate themselves in fuller measure to the virtues of piety, self-discipline, tolerance, equity, honesty, fairness and sympathy for the less privileged which the Holy month promotes.
“Owaloko joins all people of faith in praying that God Almighty will grant Nigeria greater peace, security, unity and national harmony.
