Students of the institution and Players of the Rectors Cup tournament have voiced their dissatisfaction with the tournament’s inaugural football match, which was unexpectedly cancelled without any prior notification.
The Institution Sport Unit and the Students Union Sports Director had stated that the tournament would start on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 (today).
However, the announcement turned into a dream of no reality as students who had prepared to grace the event were left with nothing to watch.
Also, our correspondent learnt that the tournament which was supposed to begin with football matches which included one between FCT1 and FAID2 at exactly 2 PM today failed to happen as the concerned bodies shifted the tournament without notifying the general public.
One of the players who spoke with NEB expressed the disappointment he felt after he had prepared for the tournament but it fails to hold without prior notification from the concerned bodies.
According to him, the players got to the field with preparation and willingness to engage in the match just to realize the match would not be held without any prior notification.
“ I feel so bad,” he said.
Also, students who spoke with our correspondent also decried the disappointment the concerned bodies presented to them without any proper notification.
“We suspended other things we had to do and waited at the Pavillion to grace the event but unfortunately it failed to hold, till now, they have not informed us of the reasons behind it”
However, At the moment of filing this report, there is no public statement from the Institution Sports Unit or the Student Union Sport director addressing the issues.
