The House of Representatives has commenced an investigative hearing into the whereabouts of inmates who escaped from the Custodial Centre in Abuja.

Some of the stakeholders invited by the joint House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Justice, Police Affairs, and Human Rights to provide input into the investigative hearing include: the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

Others invited are: the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the Legal Aid Council, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), among others.

The joint Committees and stakeholders are also expected to provide input into the motion for the decongestion of Correctional Centers in Nigeria.
