A group, under the aegis of the United Action for Change (UAC), in partnership with the Eye Foundation, has offered free eye screenings to over 200 residents of Ogba in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The event, which took place at the weekend, had many residents benefiting from comprehensive medical checkups while others were provided with free legal aid services on issues relating to civil matters affecting them.
Secretary of the group, Michael Popoola Ajayi, said provision of quality heathcare delivery should be a concern of all and sundry and should not be the exclusive preserve of government alone.
He called for collaboration between government and the private sector in the area of provision of quality healthcare delivery as well as legal services, saying that such will bridge the gap, especially for the vulnerable.
Ajayi, who lauded the outcome of the event, expressed commitment of UAC to empowering underserved communities by providing essential services and fostering a stronger, healthier and more informed society, assuring that the initiative will be sustained.
He noted that the initiative also ensured interventions in several eye-related issues, adding that others who may otherwise not have had access to such life-changing interventions were also given free eyeglasses.
