Following his recent victory at the Supreme Court, the governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, returned to Sokoto State through Sultan Abubakar International Airport to a rousing welcome from the state’s residents.
The governor, accompanied by his political leader and former Governor of the state, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, was part of a long convoy of motorcade en route to Gawon-nama, the residence of Wamakko.
The journey from the airport to Gawon Nama, which should have taken between 20 to 30 minutes, however, stretched to over three hours due to the large crowd.
Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent described the governor’s victory at the Supreme Court as a triumph for the masses of the state.
They commended the governor for a promising start to his administration, which they perceive as a continuation of the good work of his predecessor and former governor.
Addressing the supporters at the reception, the chairman of the party, Isa Sadiq Acida, commended the people of the state for believing in the administration of Ahmed Aliyu.
He assured them that the governor would ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every nook and cranny of the state.
