The National Board for Technical Education ( NBTE ) has visited the Polytechnic Iresi for resource inspection of new departments that are ready to commence academic programmes.
The exercise took place on the 13th of September 2022 at the Polytechnic campus, Iresi, Osun State.
The NBTE resource inspection team led by the Director of Polytechnic programmes, Arc Ngbede Ogoh congratulated the institution for improvement in the infrastructure as a second Community institution in the southwest.
Arc Ogoh in his remarks said the NBTE mission to all Polytechnics is for fact-finding and not fault-finding. He added that the team had come to find a better way to help the Polytechnic by finding grey areas that needed improvement for the growth and development of the institution.
According to him, ” This Polytechnic is not inferior to any other Polytechnic in Nigeria, the way NBTE recognizes other institutions is the way we recognize your institution. We are going to access it the way we will access other institutions by going through your facilities and resources and it will not base on sentiment but objective decisions.
Also speaking at the reception program, the Southwest coordinator of NBTE, Mr. Bode Majiyagbe said the resource inspection team is to perform its statutory responsibility. He added that the NBTE is brought to the grassroots by the Executive Director as partners in progress that focus on quality assurance in all Polytechnics. He emphasized the creation of a skills development center in institutions as mandated by NBTE to make graduates to be self employed.
Earlier, the Acting Rector of Iresi Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Kamoru Kadiri appreciated the NBTE team, Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Iresi monarch and council of chiefs for the unalloyed support towards the growth and development of the Polytechnic.
He noted that the Iresi Community under the auspices of the Iresi Progressives Union established the institution to actualize national development through Technical Education to produce and prepare graduates for occupations that are classed above the skills crafts.
While acknowledging the efforts of the immediate past Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. T.A Abdul-hameed, Dr. Kadiri noted that the institution has done its best in preparing for resource inspection of a total number of six (6) programmes for both ND and HND programmes.
While the Chairman Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Prof. Omolayo Ajayi appreciated the NBTE team for the resource inspection exercise. He said the Unity and cooperation in Iresi Community have propelled the tremendous growth and development the institution has witnessed within a few years. While appealing to the state government of Osun to assist the community with the road network for easy access for commuters and visitors of the Polytechnic, he assured the NBTE team of further improvement in the areas of facilities and equipment.
The Polytechnic Iresi had commenced Programmes in accounting, computer science, electrical electronics, and computer engineering at National Diploma (ND) levels and is ready to commence programmes in HND Accounting, HND Computer Science, ND Mass Communication, ND Business Administration, ND Building Technology, ND Quantity Survey accordingly.
