The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assented to a bill that abolished the five Emirs appointed by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and reinstated the former deposed Emir, Sanusi Lamido, as the new Emir of Kano.
Additionally, the state governor ordered all five former Emirs appointed by the previous governor to hand over their instruments of office to the Deputy Governor, Abdulsalam Aminu Gwarzo.

He added that the historically balkanized Kano Emirate Council has been restored to its former position.
