The publicity secretary and the youth leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ekiti state have resigned their positions in the party.

The party’s spokesman, Gani Salau and the youth leader, Oluremi Ikumapayi both resigned on Wednesday and announced their defections to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Ikumapayi in his resignation letter thanked the chairman of SDP, Dr Dele Ekunola for giving him the opportunity to serve in the party.

In his resignation letter addressed to the party chairman, Ikumapayi “thank you most sincerely for the opportunity given to me to contribute my own quota towards the development of the party in the state,” he said.

On his part, Salau who commended the leadership of the SDP for the opportunity to contribute to the development of the party, said he was moving ahead in his political aspiration in the PDP.

In his resignation letter addressed to the party chairman, Salau said “Political party is a platform for everybody to air his or her view and the moment you are through, you leave for another.

“The former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni came to SDP and left so why are we there again? So we have moved with the trend which is the PDP and there is no going back.”
