The Founder and CEO of the Aribisala Care Foundation, Barrister Abiodun Aribisala, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State. Aribisala, an internationally recognized tax consultant and a key member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, described the move as necessary to prevent the crisis from threatening vital oil and gas installations.
In a statement, Aribisala expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Rivers State, warning that the political turmoil had reached a dangerous tipping point. He emphasized that the unrest was not only destabilizing the state but also undermining the national economy and the progress made by the Tinubu administration since its inception in May 2023.

He commended President Tinubu for his decisive leadership, stating that the emergency declaration was a crucial step toward restoring peace and stability in Rivers State. According to him, the prolonged crisis had crippled governance and posed a significant risk to Nigeria’s economic security for over 15 months.
Aribisala also lauded the National Assembly for its swift ratification of the emergency proclamation, noting that the legislators had demonstrated a strong commitment to national stability. He said their endorsement reflected a deep understanding of the gravity of the situation and the urgent need for intervention.
Specifically, he praised Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and other key lawmakers for prioritizing the security and welfare of Rivers State residents above partisan considerations. He described their action as a patriotic duty that would help prevent further chaos in the oil-rich state.
Aribisala further acknowledged the rigorous review process undertaken by the National Assembly, particularly their assessment of classified security briefings. He noted that the lawmakers’ decision was guided by credible intelligence, which underscored the need for immediate and decisive action.
He urged political stakeholders in Rivers State to support the emergency measures and work towards lasting peace. According to him, political differences should not override the need for stability and development, especially in a state crucial to Nigeria’s economic well-being.
The legal expert and philanthropist also called on security agencies to discharge their duties professionally, ensuring that law and order are restored without bias. He stressed that the rule of law must be upheld while efforts are made to resolve the crisis politically.
Aribisala reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace and development across Nigeria. He expressed optimism that with decisive action from the government, Rivers State would soon return to normalcy, allowing for governance and economic activities to resume without disruption.
