Leading people is beyond showing the people the way, it also involves “holding their hands” to their destinations. It’s giving others the shoulder to stand and see the world of possibilities.
A wise man once said, “it’s better to teach someone how to fish, than to give him fish.” The logic behind this statement is that once you teach the person how to fish, he would always get fish whenever he wants it, and can even sell it to make more money.
This is being a leader and a ladder, at the same time. Distinguished Sen. Effiong Bob has led in many capacities, right from the 1990s, but one thing that has distinguished him out from others is that he does not only leads, he is equally the ladder where people climb to get to the top. This is the hallmark of true leadership.
A ladder is a piece of equipment consisting of a series of bars or steps between two upright lengths of wood, metal, or rope, used for climbing up or down something. Distinguished Sen. Effiong Bob has always offered himself as that “device” that helps to take people to the top, and has done that over the years, albeit, without making any noise about it.
He has established many businesses within the state, where 90 percent of the workforce are indigenes of the state.
Many people he established through various empowerment programmes, award of full scholarship to study within and outside Nigeria, robust legislative contributions and entrepreneurial engagements are some of the activities through which distinguished sen. Bob has won the leader-ladder crown.
Today, Akwa Ibom needs such a leader.
