On Tuesday, the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria confirmed four individuals nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to serve as Managing Director and Executive Directors of the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON).
Among the confirmed nominees is Mr. Gbenga Alade, the former Managing Director of Guarantee Trust Bank (UK), who assumes the role of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Directors appointed include Mr. Adeshola Lamidi, Mr. Lucky Adaghe, and Dr. Aminu Mukhtar Dan’amu.
According to a press statement issued by Jude Nwauzor, Head of the Corporate Communications Department of AMCON, the final confirmation occurred during Tuesday’s plenary session following a screening process conducted by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions, chaired by Senator Tokunbo Abiru.
Senator Abiru informed the Senate that the nominees underwent rigorous screening in accordance with parliamentary regulations and were deemed competent to serve as Directors of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria.

He emphasized that they possess substantial professional experience and have adhered to the Code of Conduct guidelines. Importantly, Abiru highlighted that no objections were raised against their nominations.
During the plenary session presided over by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, the Senate transitioned into the ‘Committee of the Whole’ to evaluate each nominee’s qualifications individually. Subsequently, the nominees were confirmed through a voice vote based on their merits.
