The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, has facilitated the training of over 200 locals in his senatorial district on ICT profit maximisation.

The gesture is part of Senator Katung’s desire to improve the economic well-being of his constituents at the grassroots level.

According to Senator Katung, the move is aimed at providing the necessary skills for people in rural communities to thrive economically using smartphones.

Senator Katung, who spoke through his senior legislative aid, Hon. Wilson Iliya, at the venue of the three-day training programme in Kubacha, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, said the skill acquisition training was meant to address the growing issue of unemployment, especially at the grassroots level.

Senator Katung noted that the training, which brought together men and women from Kagarko Local Government Area, will enable beneficiaries to leverage technology for business growth, e-commerce, and digital marketing through the usage of their handsets.

“I intend to expose our citizens at the grassroots to the use of their smartphones to create wealth for themselves. Our citizens at the local level will have skills to thrive in today’s technology-driven world,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, a senior manager at the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NICOMSAT), Mr. Obamde Sunny Jack, said the training was designed to teach people at the grassroots how to make use of their handsets to turn around their fortunes.

“We are here in partnership with Senator Katung to train the people at the grassroots on the use of smartphones to create legal wealth for themselves.

“The handsets are not just for calls alone; they can be used for wealth creation through digital marketing within the comfort of their homes. Generally, the idea is to reduce poverty.

“The world has gone global, and we must train our people to acquaint themselves with technology as the fastest means of making money, legally,” he said.

The training was in partnership with the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NICOMSAT).
