The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has assured that the government of President Bola Tinubu will engender economic development across sectors of the economy.

Senator Akume gave the assurance on Friday at the National Solemn Assembly, a 3-hour worship and Thanksgiving session convened by the Director of Legal and Public Affairs, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Mrs. Comfort Chigbue, in Abuja.

The SGF, while noting that Nigeria is a gifted country with rich natural and human resources, said all that was needed was a visionary leader to lead.

He said President Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Agenda, is set to replicate the giant economic strides recorded in Lagos State during his time as governor of the state.

Akume admonished Nigerians to continue to pray for and support the leaders in the country, stressing that unless the Lord builds a house, the labourers labour in vain.

“We have a fine, extraordinary man put in place by Nigerians; he needs our prayers to succeed.

“In recognition of this, you are here to give thanks to God and do supplication to God so that our leader will continue with the good work he has started to implement as President since resumption of office.

“When you look at the Renewed Hope Agenda, you will have hope for this country—hope of a better tomorrow,” he said.

Furthermore, the SGF tasked the media with prioritising the unity of the country in their reporting.

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, on his part, urged leaders at all levels to be closer to God and prioritise holiness and righteousness.

The Governor, who was represented by his wife, Mrs Olufunke Makinde, said that good leadership can only be attained by drawing nearer to God.

“The Bible says that God dwells in the praises of His people. Therefore, as leaders of Nigeria, we were drawn closer to God and worshipped him because God is the author of good governance, and governance rests on his shoulders.

“When we honour God, He will help us to conduct the affairs of our nation in the right direction; let us continue to toe the path of righteousness, which is the path of greatness, for the Bible makes it clear in Proverbs 14:34 that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach. Let us live a life of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving,” he said.

The convener of the Assembly, while addressing journalists, charged all Nigerians to remain hopeful and steadfast in the country.

“You can see the whole Nigeria represented here; you can see the joy; you can hear the sound; and the essence of gathering apart from the other high points that were carried here was to thank God, bless Him, and worship Him for everything for Nigeria and Nigerians all over the world.

“We are excellent; we should have hope in our country; we should come home; we should be resilient; and we should believe in God that this country is great.

“The only thing we can give to God is to praise Him, who has given us virtually everything without us paying anything; we prayed, and we live our lives by the grace of God,” she said.
