In a compassionate response to recent flooding and natural disasters, essential relief items valued at millions of Naira have been distributed to affected families in Shongom Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State.
The distribution, led by the Chairperson of the Council, Hajiya Fatima Binta Bello, aimed to aid the recovery of over 500 residents rendered homeless by the disaster.
The relief materials included mattresses, blankets, roofing zinc, buckets, brooms, and other necessities, provided to communities across the ten wards within the LGA.
During the distribution event, Chairperson Fatima Binta Bello reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the policies and programs of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration.
She emphasized the importance of unity and community resilience in overcoming such challenges.
Mr. Gayus Gaji Golkos, a member of the Gombe State House of Assembly representing the area, praised the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his support in electing Fatima Binta Bello, calling her an excellent choice for Shongom LGA.
He expressed gratitude for her dedication and urged beneficiaries to utilize the relief materials wisely.
Gombe State Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Waziri, commended Fatima Binta Bello as a standout leader among her peers for her unwavering dedication to her constituents.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to continue supporting her and assured them of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to assist local governments under Governor Yahaya’s administration.
The Gombe State ALGON Chairman, Barrister Sani A.A. Haruna, also expressed sympathy for the flood victims and praised Fatima Binta Bello’s compassionate response.

He urged the community to support her, promising that further assistance could be forthcoming.
The distribution event was attended by other LGAs’ Chairpersons from across Gombe State, including those from Gombe, Funakaye, Dukku, Balanga, and Kaltungo, showcasing a strong sense of unity and solidarity among communities.
Beneficiaries expressed their deep gratitude for the assistance, acknowledging the relief items as crucial for their rebuilding efforts.
Representatives including Abubakar Ibrahim, Samuel Danba, and Mamma Adamu, among others, pledged to use the materials responsibly as they recover from the impact of the floods.
They highlighted that Hajiya Fatima Binta Bello’s timely intervention demonstrated her commitment to the welfare and resilience of the Shongom community, providing vital support during a challenging time.
