Savvy Initiative Recognition Awards (SIRA) has honoured exceptional individuals within the African diaspora spotlighting their excellent contributions and remarkable achievements towards fostering development across various disciplines.
The colourful award ceremony held at The Keep Memory Alive event centre in Las Vegas, celebrated talented industry leaders, spotlighting their impact, positive representations, advocacy, innovation and community engagement.
Savvy Initiative CEO/founder, Agod Savage explained that SIRA is not just an awards ceremony.
He said, ““It is a vibrant celebration of talent and potential that inspires others to strive for greatness. SIRA acknowledges individual excellence and galvanizes a sense of unity and pride within the African community, setting the stage for future leaders.”
The evening featured a series of inspiring keynote speeches as the awardees were recognised for philanthropic endeavors, outstanding achievement, lifetime achievement, honorary award, impact in history and entertainment.
The awardees included Almaz Negash, CEO and founder, African Diaspora Network; Irene Xanderena, an healthcare advocate; Joyce Agbanobi, a data analytics expert; Bola Adeniyi, a cybersecurity expert; J Hackett a social scientist and entrepreneur; Femi Ojo, agile coach and project management expert and Coach J, who was awarded for his influence in technology and humanitarianism.
Hosted by the veteran Frank Edoho, it was a memorable evening as each recipient’s story reflected the incredible talent and potential within the African community. Their dedication and excellence were truly inspiring, making the awards presentation a highlight of the night.
The awards event also featured the captivating rhythms of African drummers which created an atmosphere of unity and joy, connecting the audience to their roots and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Africa.
The raffle draws segment injected an extra dose of excitement into the evening. Lucky winners went home with fantastic prizes and secured new career opportunities in fields such as data training, content strategy, and cyber security engineering.
Negash, who was recognised for her role in empowering entrepreneurs and innovators of African descent, is also a member of the White House Council on Diaspora Engagement. She gave a keynote speech and engaged in a fireside chat with Savvy Initiative CEO.
She spoke passionately about empowering the African diaspora to succeed. “When we come together as a community, we unlock the potential for greatness. Our collective efforts can pave the way for a brighter future for the African diaspora;” she said.
Savage echoed this sentiment, emphasising the mission of the Savvy Initiative, saying that, “Our goal is to spotlight the brilliance within our community and provide a platform for these incredible stories to be heard.” He added that, “Tonight is a testament to the power of unity and the endless possibilities that arise when we support and uplift one another.”
Savvy Initiative is a non-profit on a mission to empower lives through knowledge, community, and recognition. It’s diverse programs, including ‘eMentor’ connecting people worldwide, ‘Youth Tech Connect’ inspiring high schoolers, and ‘empowHER’ supporting young girls in Nigeria, nurture talent and drive positive change.
