The Osun State Police Command has detained six people on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

Yemisi Opalola, the Command’s spokesman, revealed the arrests in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday in Osogbo.

Opalola said the suspects were apprehended in Ede, Osun State, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Akure, Ondo State, and Lagos State.

Opalola further stated that the suspects had one Beretta pistol without a magazine, one locally produced pistol, two cartridges, one iPhone, an Apple wristwatch, two Toyota Camry automobiles, one earpod, an ATM card, and a screwdriver.

She gave the names of the suspects and their ages as Sunday Felix Eniola, 42 years, Sunday Emeka, 48 years, Solomon Michael, 49 years, Ebere Nwoye, 32 years, Moses Ogbu, 42 years and Friday Bernard, 50 years.

The statement reads, “On 7th April, 2024 at about 11:20pm, the complainant reported at ‘B’ Division Ede, that four armed robbery gang stormed his house at Akankan Area, Ede and dispossessed him and other occupants of the building valuables such as Iphone 13 promax, Iphone 7plus, Iphone 6S, clothes, PS4, Ipad, Ear pod and Apple wristwatch, chargers and sneaker amounted to the sum of four million nine hundred and ninety thousand naira only (N4,990,000).

“Also, on 14th April, 2024, at about 11:12pm, the same four armed robbery gang, who came in Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. APP 352 RR, stormed the house of the complainant of Fiwasaye Agbale Area, Ede, kidnapped him and carted away three HP Laptop, one power bank and white WIFI.

“The complainant was not released until 4:30am after collecting the sum of one hundred and twenty three thousand naira (N123,000) ransom which was transferred to Account No. 2022108661 belonging to one of the armed robbers, Solomon Michael. D

“During the operation, one of the armed robbers named Sunday Felix fired the complainant’s brother; Ali Monday Segun on his right leg with a Baretta Pistol, the victim was rushed to Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife where the ammunition was removed after operation.

“Again, On 19th April, 2024 at about 11:45pm, another complainant of Power line Area, Agbale Ede, Osun state reported that three armed men scaled the fence of their house and forced the door opened, they dispossessed the occupants of their valuables such as Iphone X, Infinix Note 8i, Itel power bank, wrist watch, two 14 promax, clothes and one Toyota Venza with Reg. No. SMK 488 JJ valued Eleven million naira only (#N11m).

“Furthermore, On 27th April, 2024 at about 2:30am, a complainant of Fasina’s Estate, Aisu Ede reported that, a gang of Armed Robber stormed his house and forcefully broke the door, collected their valuables such as Iphone and Toyota Highlander which belong to Federal Polytechnic Ede Union.

“In addition, on 29th May, 2024, at about 11:00pm, the complainant reported that, his house located at Agbale Area, Ede Osun State was stormed by three armed men, ransacked his room and the other occupants of the building, carted away their valuables such as Iphones, Ipad, PS3 game and TVS motorcycle with Reg. No. GNN 06 QQ.

“The above cases were reported at A and B Divisions Ede respectively and since then the Police has been on the trail of the suspects. Consequently, the cases were transferred to CP’s Monitoring Unit for discreet investigation.

“The CP’s Monitoring Unit investigative team immediately swung into action arrested the above named suspects in connection with the cases at various locations such as Ede, Abeokuta, Akure and Lagos States respectively and the aforementioned exhibits were recovered. Investigation is still ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover other stolen items.”

Opalola stated that after the inquiry is completed, the suspects would be charged in court.
