From participating in the reality show that shot many of them to the limelight, some ex-housemates have gone on to pick political appointments.

 

Here is a list of ex-BBNaija housemates with political appointments:

 

1. In 2019, Cindy Okafor was specially recognised by the Abia State Government. She was appointed an Ambassador of the “Made in Aba” project by the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

She wrote: “I am so excited, to represent such great cause. Made in Aba project is something the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is very passionate about. Becoming the Ambassador for such a great cause is something I am exceptionally proud of. Swipe to the last video to see why Aba is called the African Japan.

 

“Thank you Abia State Government for bringing me into this light. Thanks to the honourable commissioner for information John Okeiyi Kalu and the Secretary to the State, Barr. Chris Ezem for the warm reception. Best home coming wlc EVER!”

2.  In 2020, Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, appointed, Gedoni Ekpata, a former “Pepper Dem” housemate, as his Special Assistant on Garment Factory and Branding.

Gedoni’s fiancée, who was also a fellow housemate on the reality show, Khafi Kareem, announced the appointment via her Instagram page.

 

She wrote: ”@gedoni has been appointed as the Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Garment Factory and Branding.”

3.  Same year, the winner of the “Lock Down” edition, Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe, popularly known as Laycon was appointed as a Youth Ambassador by the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun

Along with the appointment, the gov also gifted Laycon with a three-bedroom bungalow and N5M.

4. Still in 2020, two other “Lock Down” housemates, Rebecca ‘Nengi’ Hampson and Tarimotimi Sinclair aka Trikytee were appointed as senior special assistants to the Bayelsa State governor, Douye Diri.

Diri appointed Nengi who was the second runner up of the fifth season as a Senior Special Assistant on Girl Child Development though Trikytee’s portfolio wasn’t revealed.

Nengi, the 22-year-old entrepreneur from Bayelsa state who was the second runner up of the season, thanked the governor for the huge support she got while in the Big Brother house, stating that she enjoyed projecting the image of Bayelsa in a positive light.

“I want to thank His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State Senator Douye Diri on my appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State…What an Honour, I am grateful…” Trikytee also tweeted.

5.  On Friday, November 19, 2021, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state appointed Hazel Onoduenyi, popularly known as Whitemoney, winner of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ edition, as the state’s Ambassador for Creative Arts.

Speaking at the event, Ugwuanyi described Whitemoney as a “worthy son of Enugu state.” Continue Reading
