Nigerian singer Skales has addressed a long-standing misconception about his career, stating that it was not Wizkid who played a significant role in his success.
Instead, he credits Banky W, Olamide, and Timaya for believing in his talent.
Skales took to his social media account to clarify the misconception, writing, “Put some respect on my name… I don tell una the only person sef wey help me na Olamide and Timaya and Banky W… much respect to Burna… you guys always love to see artiste go against each other but ama set the record straight.”
He also responded to a fan who claimed that Wizkid “made” him, saying, “Ask am make him tell una how… got respect for him but he dint help me… if anything Banky deserves the praise and respect for believing in teenagers.”

Skales emphasised that his collaborations with other artists, including Burna Boy, were mutually beneficial and that he doesn’t owe his success to anyone but his fans and God’s grace.
The singer closed by expressing his commitment to music and avoiding negativity, stating, “I’m a don with this music and all I wanna do is make music and stay away from all that negative toxic bullshit.”
Skales and Wizkid both launched their careers under Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) label in the 2010s but have since moved on to successful solo paths.
