A young man identified as Lola Okunrin has lamented the tragic death of Oba Olatunde Samuel, the Onimojo of Imojo, who was recently killed alongside the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola by suspected herdsmen in Ekiti State.

The gunmen had attacked the traditional rulers around the Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti axis in Ajoni Local Government Area of the state on Monday.

But as their death continues to generate national outrage, Okunrin has taken to his official X handle to bemoan the sudden death of one of the monarchs.

In the post, he said: “I am just realizing that one of the slayed kings in Ekiti by the terrible kidnappers is Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Samuel.

“He was my best lecturer from another dept in FUTA that year. Everyone in my class loved him though he was in Quantity Survey Dept. I will never forget one of Kabiyesi’s class where he was teaching us about Formwork in construction. A lady raised her hand saying she didn’t understand the function of formwork. This man gently asked her “those books, pen and calculator in front of you, are they yours?”

“She replied ‘Yes’ and he said ‘is that bag yours too?” She replied “yes”. He said “pack your things into your bag” with a straight face. We all thought he was sending her out of the class. The lady was perplexed while packing her stuff into her bag amidst the silence. “Then Kabiyesi said ‘That is the function of a formwork. Same way your bag is holding your things and keeping them in a spot, that’s how formwork hold concrete mix during construction’.

“The entire class bursted out clapping. I can never forget that day. We all understood immediately. He was a grade “A” lecturer, gentle going and full of smiles. A kingly lecturer.

“Rest in peace Kabiyesi!” 🕊️
