The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, said on Friday that her foundation, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, has distributed vegetable seedlings to 8,000 farmers in the state.
Mrs Soludo disclosed this shortly after launching the Healthy Living Community Garden/Farmer’s Market Programme at Ogidi, the headquarters of the Idemili North Council Area.
The programme, Tribune Online gathered, is part of her pet project aimed at promoting a healthy and prosperous Anambra.
She noted that the distributed seedlings include okra, tomatoes, cucumber, green leafy vegetables, green/red/hot peppers, maize, and sweet soft corn.
She further stated that the free seedlings are for farmers across all 21 local government areas of the state.
She urged the people in the council area, particularly women, to “fully embrace the programme to sustain food production and surplus for local and international consumption.”
The governor’s wife also appealed to the Council Chairman, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka, to provide land for the project to commence in earnest, thanking the people for their continued support of her husband’s administration.
In his remarks, Hon. Nkwoka commended Mrs Soludo for her efforts, assuring her that the people of Idemili North, under his leadership, “will give full support to ensure that the programme benefits Ndi-Anambra.”
The event also featured the launch of Saturday’s Healthy Living Workout Sessions across all 21 local government areas of the state.
