In a recent statement released by the National Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Administration Support Group (TSASG), Hon Felix Akpoyibo, on Monday, February 26, 2024, in Benin City, youths in the South-South region of Nigeria have been urged to abstain from participating in any protests against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The advisory emphasized that the economic policies introduced by the Tinubu administration are designed to benefit all Nigerians, regardless of creed, faith, political affiliations, or ethnicity.
Akpoyibo highlighted that these policies, particularly those concerning foreign exchange aimed at fostering a free-floating Nigerian Naira, are expected to attract Foreign Direct Investments, thereby stimulating economic growth and bolstering the national currency.
He cited examples from other African nations like Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as Ghana, where foreign investors actively contribute to their economies. In contrast, Nigeria has suffered from the exodus of foreign investors due to past leaders’ flawed policies. However, Akpoyibo expressed confidence that President Tinubu’s leadership will reverse this trend within the next 36 months, leading to a revitalized Nigerian economy.
Acknowledging the current hardships faced by Nigerians, Akpoyibo urged patience, stressing that enduring the short-term pains of the policies will ultimately yield a better future for the nation and its citizens.
He cautioned South-South youths against being swayed by the agendas of self-serving political leaders in the region, urging them to refrain from protests against President Tinubu. Akpoyibo reiterated the belief that Tinubu’s economic policies are well-intentioned and will ultimately deliver positive and tangible outcomes for all Nigerians, promising that the present challenges, including hyperinflation and price hikes, will be temporary.
The statement concluded with a message of optimism, envisioning a brighter future for Nigeria under President Tinubu’s leadership.
