Dear, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
I am writing, with a heart filled with joy and happiness, to congratulate you on your recent election as the President of our great nation. From the days leading to the Presidential Primaries of your party and the eventual clinching of the presidential ticket, I had known that your connecting day with destiny was fast approaching. Alhamdulillah, Robil-al-amin for the victory at last despite all the sophisticated intrigues, conspiracies, ruses and intricacies strategically employed and systematically deployed by the cabal living at the corridors of power with the large chunk of Christian leaders in the country to thwart the process and render you humiliated before Nigerians and members of the International communities whose love for you are tenaciously staunch and inflexible. All glories are to Allah SWT for the victory amid bigotry. Indeed, they planned and Allah planned. Allah remains the best Planners
No doubt, your election was a reminiscence of the infamous June 12, 1993 election in which the assumed winner, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, dared all odds to settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. The result of that epochal election should not be relived.
Like I said in a writing before the general elections, which was entitled “Godly And Not Religious”, I urged the Nigerian reading class to eschew religiosity for competence for the betterment of our country.
Now that a bridge has been crossed, I like to be frank with you, Sir, that a bigger and longer bridge remains to be crossed and a crossing step of that begins on May 29th, 2023, when you must have been sworn in, In Sha Allah, as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the most populous black nation on earth. It is a journey that must be placed in the hands of Allah to be the driver from the beginning to the end.
Sir, as you embark on this new chapter of your life, I would like to urge you to consider one vital area and that is ‘crowding’ Muslims in your administration. As I mentioned earlier, the role of many Christian leaders in the buildup to the general elections was a sore to the tongue, to say the least as they almost threw the country into chaos with their unguided and politically biased preaching on the alters. Knowing your kind of person, I know such meant nothing to you if your general liberalism is looked at. I know, as you mentioned in your acceptance speech after the INEC declared you the winner of the election, that all those that ran against you weren’t your enemies but opponents in the race to occupy the top and the hottest seat in the land. To some of us that know you inside out, it was not surprising because that’s your nature and the principle which you have been operating for over four decades ago. But, it is crucial to draw your attention to the fact that the Muslim Ummah surrounded you in both realms of physicality and spirituality when it was obvious that the other leaders in the opposite religion were not only seen to be serious but acted and preached their seriousness at ensuring that all Christians in the country voted against you. It was the most sacrilegious, blasphemous and darkest period in the history of the unity of our nation.
When the Christian leaders were threatening brims and storm should you be elected the President, the Muslim Ummah was analysing and depicting a modus operandi that would punctuate the balloons of threats.
Your Excellency Sir, I’m sure you are aware that Muslims have been an integral part of the Nigerian fabric for centuries, contributing significantly to the nation’s growth and prosperity. They have served in various capacities in the government, military, and private sectors, bringing diverse skill sets and skill sets to the table.
However, despite their contributions, Muslims have often faced discrimination and prejudice in Nigeria, especially in the hands of the Christians who glaringly seem to have upper control of the private sector, particularly in the aftermath of the ascendancy of President Muhammad Buhari to the presidency. As a result, their voices have been marginalized, and their presence in positions of power has been limited.
I believe that giving the Muslims a substantial chunk in your administration would send a powerful message of acknowledgement and appreciation to them. for standing unswervingly by you during the tempest period of your political career. In fact, they did wonderful salvaging work to make the much-touted impossible to be possible – the Muslim-Muslim Presidency for the first time in Nigeria. Sir, giving the Muslims major roles in your administration would demonstrate to the world how reliable and trustworthy you are.
Furthermore, it is understandable that some Christians were reasonable enough to dispel the threats by their leaders and cast their votes for you. Their trust reposed in you should be appreciated as well.
I encourage you to reach out to qualified and experienced Muslim professionals and leaders who can bring their unique perspectives and insights to your administration. By doing so, you will not only create a more inclusive government but also harness the full potential of the Muslim Ummah in advancing our nation’s interests.
Having said that, I must add that as you prepare to build your cabinet, I urge you to consider a diverse set of candidates that represent all Nigerians. We must have leaders from various backgrounds who can bring different perspectives to the table. Your cabinet should reflect the mosaic of our great country, and I hope you will prioritize diversity in your selections.
Moreover, I believe every member of your cabinet should be allowed to contribute equally and have their voices heard. The people in your cabinet are appointed because they possess the knowledge and expertise to lead their respective departments. Therefore, all members of your cabinet should have the freedom to make decisions that best serve their ministries/departments/agencies and the Nigerian people.
I’m confident that, with the right leadership and collaboration, your administration will bring progress and prosperity to our country.
Thank you for your consideration, and I wish you all the best in your upcoming term as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Continue Reading
