Alhaji (Dr.) Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has called on Governor Abba Yusuf to stop denying knowledge of the recently revealed alleged medical supplies contract.

This contract reportedly involved forty-four local government councils being instructed to pay about N9 million each to Novomed, a company allegedly owned by the nephew of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Kwankwaso made this known in a statement issued on Sunday in Kano, responding to another statement from the governor’s spokesman, who claimed the governor was unaware of the contract.

Kwankwaso reiterated his earlier that Rabiu Kwankwaso is effectively the governor of the state by proxy and is the one truly in charge.

He added that if Governor Yusuf is indeed in control, this matter should not be investigated but instead pursued through legal action against the whistleblower, Bello Galadanci.

He stated, “If you do not know about this deal, then you have confirmed what I said earlier, that Rabiu Kwankwaso is the governor of the state, not you. You are only his errand boy.

If you are aware of it, then investigation should not be the response; instead, you should seek legal redress against the allegations in a competent court of law.

Your claim that you are unaware only confirms that you are not the governor in charge, but Rabiu Kwankwaso is. Whatever you are doing is under the instructions and command of your boss.”

“We can agree that you are not aware of the contract, but your boss is. We don’t want you to deceive the public,” Kwankwaso added.

Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso further explained that if Governor Yusuf admits he is aware of the contract and the money has been paid to the account of his boss’s nephew, with evidence of transactions presented by the whistleblower, then he is complicit in the deal.

Refusing to acknowledge the deal, Kwankwaso argued, only confirms that Governor Yusuf is merely an errand boy for Kwankwaso and not the actual governor of the state.
