The management of the Adamawa State College of Education (COE), Hong, has shut down the institution indefinitely.

The notice, signed for the College Registrar by the Deputy Registrar, Yusufu Usman, and dated 29/11/2021, asked all students and workers, except management staff and security personnel, to vacate the college immediately.
“I am directed to inform all members of staff and students of the indefinite closure of the college due to students’ unrest which led to damage and looting of government properties,” the deputy registrar stated.
He added in the notice seen by our correspondent Monday evening, “In view of this closure, all students are to vacate the premises and the hostels.
The notice advised all law abiding students and members of staff to stay calm and await further directives.
Sources who offered explanation to the said students unrest at the college in the northern Adamawa Hong town, said a centre of the college was razed by the protesting students.
A number of pictures also indicate that some office items were damaged.
The inside sources said the protest was caused by increase in tuition fees and change of the time table for a scheduled examination.
