Nationnewslead report that The management of Sunshine Schools, Ibadan has reacted to a viral story on social media regarding a pupil of the school.

In a press release made available to newsmen, the school management said it has been inundated with calls and messages from concerned people over the ugly incident, hence the need to state it’s own side of the story.

The statement reads:

Events of the past few days have necessitated that we respond officially to an incident that concerns our school which has found it’s way into the media space, both the conventional, and social media.

As an academic institution of repute that handles with utmost care issues that concern our pupils and esteemed parents, it is necessary that we reel out the facts concerning the cutting of a pupil’s hair in one of our campuses.

Firstly, we expresses our deepest sympathies to the parents of the child whose hair was cut due to the teacher’s negligence and we have put internal mechanisms in place to ensure that not only is the perpetrator of such act found but also made to face prosecution.

We will like to put on record that contrary to what was peddled in the media, the CCTV footage of the school is not being deliberately hidden but the peculiar fuel situation of the country necessitated that the power generating set in the school shuts down at noon on the said date, and therefore could not power the school CCTV cameras to monitor the class.

However, we have put in place an investigative system and our findings will be made public in due course.

Sunshine Schools, Ibadan would like to assure all parents, students, staff and community members that the incident was an unfortunate and isolated case, and that the CEO of Sunshine Schools, Ibadan had no involvement or knowledge of the incident.

We take our responsibility to the community and our students seriously, and we are doing our best to investigate the incident and avoid similar situations in the future.

We thank the community for their patience and support, and ask that all questions and concerns be directed to the school management. Continue Reading
