Zamfara State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, has visited primary healthcare centers (PHCs) as part of efforts to monitor the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), saying people should support Governor Dauda’s Lawal rescue mission.

Dr Nafisa Maradun, through the information officer of the Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah, said the visit was part of a state oversight committee to ensure accountability on the utilization of funds from the health contributory scheme in the state.

“The Commissioner’s visit is part of her mandate, aimed to supervise BHCPF facilities and ensure accountability in the utilization of capitation funds from the Zamfara Contributory Health Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA) and Direct Facility Financing (DFF) from the State Primary Health Care Board (SPHCB),” she stated.

The commissioner also sought to confirm adherence to BHCPF guidelines for enrolled individuals and verify the availability of drugs for basic healthcare enrollees.

Dr. Maradun expressed her gratitude to Governor Dauda Lawal for his support of the state’s health sector and called on residents to support the governor’s “Rescue Mission” agenda.

In his remarks, the permanent secretary of Ministry of Health, Malam Bashir Surajo, emphasized that the Ministry will not tolerate absenteeism among healthcare workers.

He urged staff of the Ministry and its parastatals to support government policies and programs for the development in the state.

Among the primary healthcare facilities visited were the Tudun Wada Women and Children’s Clinic (WCWC) in Gusau, the Shagari Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), and the Gada Biyu PHC.

Ashiru Muhammad, Officer in Charge of the Shagari PHC, thanked the commissioner and her team for the visit, pledging their support for her six-point agenda.
