Suspected gunmen on Friday broke into the house of the President General of Umuoji community in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, Chief Silas Onyim and killed him.
The community leader, who is popularly known as Chief Sly, was later discovered naked in the pool of his own blood, inside a bathtub in his bathroom.
Details of his murder have remained sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
Police authorities in Anambra State confirmed the incident, saying the command was working with locals to identify the killers.
State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the body of the slain community leader has been recovered.
“Yes, I’m aware of the incident. The command immediately sent operatives there, and the body of the PG has been retrieved.
“We are working with locals to identify the perpetrators of the act, in order to bring them to book. Calm has also been restored in the area.”
