Nigeria’s President, Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been urged to, as a matter of fairness and justice, drop the idea of any law that will further divide the country.

The call was made by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, who is the Governor of Bauchi State while speaking at the opening session of the State Executive Council (SEC) regular meeting held at the EXCO Chambers of the Governor’s office.

“Addressing national issues, I expressed concern regarding the ongoing deliberations on the national tax reform law, which I believe may not adequately consider the interests of the northern region.

‘”As a united nation, Nigeria should avoid enacting laws that could potentially marginalize any part of our country.

“Today, I called upon my cabinet members to remain steadfast in their commitment to realising the objectives set out in our #MyBauchiProject blueprint. I made this appeal during the opening of our State Executive Council meeting at the Executive Chamber of Government House.

“I respectfully urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to withhold approval of any bill that may place certain regions at a disadvantageous position.

“I am confident in the Northern region’s ability to sustain its economy, thanks to our wealth of resources in agriculture and minerals. It is crucial that we establish policies that truly foster growth and development across the North.

“We in Bauchi State and other Northern States, we all have all that it takes to stand on our own through Agriculture, Minerals resources and the likes, so we must think inward.”

The Governor then charged members of his Cabinet to remain foccu in ensuring the success of the “My Bauchi Project” blueprint of his administration lamenting that what was achieved in 2024 was far below that of 2023.

Following the Governor’s opening address, the Executive Council meeting proceeded into a closed-door session with members of the State Executive Council in attendance.
