There was tension on Tuesday when a petrol tanker was involved in an accident in Ogun State, spilling its content.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash occurred around Car Park C, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Commuters had feared that the highly flammable petroleum product might catch fire if care was not taken.

But, the Ogun State Command of the FRSC immediately cordoned off the area to avoid a secondary crash.

The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, said the State Fire Service was contacted to be on standby for transloading of the content.

“The FRSC, Ogun Sector Command wishes to inform the motoring public on the crash involving a petrol tanker around Car Park C, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

“No life was lost, but the content was spilt on the road.

“A total of two vehicles were involved, however, no casualty was recorded from the incident.

“Meanwhile, FRSC operatives are on ground managing the traffic situation.

“The area has been coned(sic) to avoid a secondary crash

“Ogun State Fire Service has been contacted to be on standby for transloading of the content.

“Motorists are advised to remain calm and cooperate with traffic managers,” Okpe told Nationnewslead.
