The Visitation Panels for State-owned Tertiary Institutions constituted by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has begun submission of reports of their findings to the state government.
The Panels to the College of Education and Legal Studies, Nafada and the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gombe, presented their reports Monday to the government.
Presenting the report for the College of Education and Legal Studies, Chairman of the Visitation Panels, Professor Sani Abba Aliyu appreciated Governor Inuwa Yahya the visitor to the Institution for finding them worthy to serve the state in that capacity.
While describing the opportunity to serve the state as a mark of honour Professor Sani Abba Aliyu also commended the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi for providing the panel with the needed guidance, staff and logistics that made their assignment much easier.
Abba said that the report which is in two volumes covered the main panel findings and recommendations and supporting documents as appendixes.
He also highlighted some of the recommendations of the panel including the constitution of a Governing Board, appointment of substantive Provost, enhancement of academic staff status and official vehicles as well as student buses.
He appealed to the government to urgently address them as they form critical conditions for TetFund intervention.
In a related development, Chairman of the Visitation Panel to the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr Mohammed Isa Umar who led other members and management Staff of the College, presented a three-volume report dwelling on findings and recommendations, Draft law for the College to reflect it’s proposed status and references of the main report.
Umar, a one-time Commissioner of Health in the State lauded Governor Yahaya’s foresight in the constitution of the Panel to comprehensively interrogate the actual situation of the college which according to him will avail the government the necessary information on requirements for its proper administration and management.
While receiving the two separate reports on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi appreciated the Chairmen and members of the Visitation Panels for accepting and sacrificing their valuable time to undertake the assignment.
Professor Ibrahim Njodi said the government constituted various panels with credible members to enable it to have a holistic picture of what was obtained in the respective institutions and find workable recommendations that would catapult them into viable and sustainable avenues for manpower development.
He assured that the government will carefully and critically study the reports and implement the the recommendations and informed them that they have written their names in the history of the state’s development.
The presentation of the reports which took place at the government house had in attendance Acting Head of Civil Service, Ahmed Kasimu, Abdullahi Permanent Secretaries, PPS to the Governor Muhammed Usman Shanu and Directors contained in a statement by Joshua Danmalam, Information officer SSG’s Office.
