Christmas is a season when christians all of the world reflect on the birth of their saviour Jesus Christ. It is a time of sober reflection on the redemptive works of Christ; his decision to abandon his heavenly heritage and glories, and take a lowly life of a servant.
But quite ironical, a group of individuals who call themselves APC has expressed the height of insensitivity in recent times by using this sacred season to talk about matters that are so infantile to even a believer in the foundation class.
Unlike the biblical children of Issacchar who had understanding of the time, Akwa Ibom APC have lost touch with reality, and in an attempt to tell the world that they are still in existence, replaced what was supposed to be a Christmas message of the comatose party to its paucal members with a verbal tantrum consistent with a dying party.
In a word, APC’s reactions to issues and what forms the basis of their psyche sometimes smacks of insouciance – a casual, clinical, dispassionateness that suggests that the recent release from their end is just an effort to put another item on the news agenda, an assignment they assumed to have been done, dusted, and ticked off on a reportorial list. But they have failed woefully for ignoring the essentiality of this season and are concerned with who hoarded palliatives or not. To these folks, their god is their belly. All they know and talk about is food and how money should be shared. Of course, that is the foundation of the party.
It would be recalled that the State Government had in November this year intimated on the arrival of palliative materials from CACOVID (Coalition against COVID); a private sector driven corporate social responsibility contribution to the fight against the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic. It was also announced that when the full consignment from the donors arrive the state, distribution would commence.
On arrival of the items as anticipated, the distribution was and is still being shared to those in the media, orphanage homes, medical workers, security personnel, traders, Labour, entertainers and students, alongside the usual end of year goodwill gift of rice to people. Without asking, the pictorial evidences of these distributions are vast across various social media platforms for the world to see. No one is to be blamed that the arrival and distribution of the items coincides with the Christmas season of giving hence, the clear differentiation of the items from each other. Even the blind can see this.
This time would have been used by APC appointees at the state and federal levels to distribute Christmas gifts and send messages to their members, but such is alien to the party as everyone is only concerned about himself and family.
Alleging that the Governor apologized for Poor performance is even more laughable. How is poor performance rated, by the way? Is Poor performance not the outcome of nothingness and cluelessness which the present government towers high above? How poor is a government which lives up to its promises with a continuous quest to do more? Do we not have industries in the State? Are people not coming into the state to invest? The answer surely, is yes. From showing commitment to the protection of lives and properties by regularly providing logistics to security operatives in the state and the strides shown in youth and infrastructural development, there can be no such judgment as poor government, except a mindset that only comes from the opposition themselves.
Now, APC is engaging in political fairy tales about “mbiam”. Before now, tales were useful because they were not to be believed. “Children were told scary fairy tales so they wouldn’t wander from home. No one actually wanted to deceive another”. But APC members whenever they wake up a little from their political slumber gather children and fellow adults and with constipated faces tell them political fairy tales in broad daylight. What has a confession made by one man about “mbiam” to do with Gov. Udom Emmanuel?
When the governor assumed office, he vehemently warned against such practice which before now was a norm in the political circle in this part of the clime. During the build up to the Local Government primaries in the state, he sternly warned that any party member involved in such devilish practice would be kicked out of the party. And no one ever heard about “mbiam” in Akwa Ibom politics.
Mentioning what has been in the lips of people during a media chat does not in any way suggest its acceptance by the speaker. He mentioned that someone had confessed to that. Does that mean he is in support of that? Methinks APC members need a mental reorientation, and better still, a psychological surgery.
The Governor never made a statement using ‘Mbiam’ as an excuse for the incompletion of any project. Rather, a confession from one of the locales that he (the local) poured ‘Mbiam’ on the Coconut plantation to prevent the produce from growing is not secret. If this is not true, the APC should produce any release or record confirming otherwise.
Even the dumbest of all humans know that the dreaded coronavirus pandemic has thwarted almost every arrangement and plan that people, institutions, organizations and governments made. Government like other institutions made projections for 2020, but the pandemic halted almost everything. Construction companies have been worst hit by the pandemic since most of the companies handling the work are foreign companies. Most of the expatriates left the country at the emergence of the virus, countries where construction equipment are procured closed their borders, and there was no way facilities for the construction work could have been brought in. And so all these are reasons why some projects are delayed. But APC members don’t reason. They just talk, which is a sign of insanity.
The APC we know only exists on Facebook to make meaningless noise. On the inside, they grapple with factoral disunity, disorganization and confusion. They are only known on Facebook for their insignificant and baseless singularly-produced releases which its members never attempt to post on their timelines.
The crying Party should learn not to channel their frustration through embarrassing unsubstantiated releases but embrace positivity for its improved health and growth.
Akwa Ibom people are aware of their tactics to distract the people, and would never succumb to their trick. They should learn to show decorum and do things circumspectly. This is Christmas season, and their members atleast deserve a Christmas message. They should do just that and leave politics behind. They know nothing about governance.
