One of the major problems facing Nigeria is the high rate of unemployment. This development is worrisome in the sense that it makes many agile youths and young persons to be unproductive. This situation not only fuels social vices, Restiveness and crime, but economic output is also impaired because those willing and capable of contributing to productivity are unable to do so. In the end, the nation becomes poorer by the day and the poverty level increases.
The issue of employment and empowerment of the citizens is key. Despite series of efforts by governments to empower the people and create an enabling environment to generate employment, the unemployment problem persists. This is where local and international non-governmental actors need to augment what the public sector is doing to make our country prosperous.
This is why Dr. Desmond Oludare Ojumu continues to empower the people of his Constituency and its environs in order to make sure both Young and old live a meaningful life.
It also prepares them for self employment and gives them the entrepreneurial skills that enable them to become job creators.
Here are the parts of his empowerment:
* Agricultural empowerment: The objective of the Farmer Empowerment through Agriculture Technology and Information Project for Dr. Desmond Oludare Ojumu Foundation is to develop a demand-driven, market oriented agricultural services system, based on partnerships within the farmers and Dr. Desmond Oludare Ojumu Foundation.
* Welding empowerment: The aim of Dr. Desmond Oludare Ojumu on this programme is to prepare members of the host communities for the labour market by ensuring that they have skills that are in demand, and that these skills are recognized and certified. It also prepares them for self-employment and gives them the entrepreneurial skills that enable them to become job creators.
* Tailoring empowerment: The purpose of the Tailor Empowerment program is to help lift families out of poverty by giving them skills that allow them to make meaningful income.
* Barbing and Hair dressing empowerment: Though, Being a hairdresser or Barber is hard, but Dr. Desmond Oludare Ojumu in his words of encouragement said and I quote “if you love what you do and cultivate enough courage to put yourself out there, then when things go wrong the passion will keep you going, and you will be confident that you will bounce back. You can’t be everything to everyone, but you can be the best version of yourself! And that takes courage”
According to Desmond Ojumu the program is to support the working Governor His Excellency Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in his government to make life better for the good people of Oriade /Obokun Federal Constituency and Osun State at large. Continue Reading
