One of the virtues of a leader is the ability to lead based on principles that will guide him in leading with passion, hence, he will be seen as weak, incapable, and someone who stands for nothing.

These principles ensure that the leader will keep the organization aligned with its core purpose, and steer it towards excellence.

A few days ago while swearing in the newly appointed Head of Service, His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Adeleke reiterated his commitment towards reviving the Osun State Civil Service.

Adeleke said he is poised towards ensuring that no one is denied his or her entitled benefits.

He used the occasion to call on workers in the state to be his administration’s partner in taking Osun state to a greater height.

He assured the ecstatic workers that they will have it good under his administration.

Adeleke noted that the civil service being the driver of government’s policies and programs, must be alive and be ready to help government to achieve its agenda.

The task before the new Head of Service is how to restructure the civil service and bring it back to life by correcting the errors created by the past administration.

The lopsidedness and irregularities in the service, promotion, postings and transfer should be based on merit and not on political participation as wrongly infused into the civil service by the past administration.

The new Head of Service must table before Governor Adeleke the issue of Coordinating Director (CD) and how to abolish it in the service.

CD is an aberration in the service, as a matter of fact, it was a way of pegging potential Permanent Secretaries, who should be allowed to get to the peak of their career.

Also, there is urgent need for the new boss to start pushing for training and retraining of civil servants at all levels as a means of strengthen the system for a better result oriented service.

Historically speaking, the days of Elder Segun Akinwusi as the Head of Service, witnessed meritorious promotion which the new Head of Service should emulate and implement in order to place the service on a better pedestal.

To my dear kinsman, Mr Samuel Aina, you can make this happen by reworking, restructuring and redefining the State Civil Service.

May God help you to correct the errors of the past.

Congratulations once again.
