The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Zamfara state chapter, has embarked on a two-day strike as a result of economic hardship and disclosed to Governor Dauda Lawal that there is hunger in the land.
Presenting the letter of grievances to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, the state NLC chairperson, comrade Sani Haliru Kurya, lamented that the economic hardship in the state and country in general is unfortunate and needs urgent government intervention.
He disclosed that workers and the entire population of the state are hungry and need more support and intervention from the government.
He further lamented that the current hardship was created by leaders with biased minds—selfish leaders.
“Subsidy removal should be revisited; the recent distribution of palliatives only benefited politicians and their relatives.”.
Kurya said the current economic hardship is too much. A bag of rice is now sold for about seventy thousand naira, and a cartoon of Indomie is now sold for eighteen thousand naira in the state.
He lauded the giant efforts of Governor Dauda Lawal for settling the over 13-year backlog of worker satisfaction in the state.
In his remarks, Governor Dauda Lawal, represented by the head of service Ahmed Liman, assured to convey the NLC grievances to the governor for appropriate action
He said the present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal is worker-friendly, with many things to offer the state civil servants for a conducive working atmosphere in the state.
