Three people were on Sunday crushed to death while another person was rescued in two articulated truck accidents that occurred at 184 Battalion, Pz Junction in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

One person was still feared trapped in the accident truck at the time of filing this report.

One of the trucks, laden with two 20-foot containers, while on top speed, reportedly lost control and rammed into the other truck, which was parked by the roadside.

The effect of the crash on the stationary truck resulted in it crashing into some shops by the roadside.

The Permanent Secretary in charge of LASEMA, Femi Oke- Osanyintolu confirmed the accident in a statement signed by him on Sunday evening.

The LASEMA boss said; “Following distress calls received via the CRM on the 767/112 Emergency Toll-Free Lines at 1355hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans and Response Team from Agbowa.

Upon arrival, LASEMA’s Lion Response Team discovered that an articulated truck, registration number unknown, conveying twin 20-foot containers laden to capacity, lost control of locomotion, veered off the main road, and rammed into a parked containerized truck, registration number unknown, which in turn crashed into some roadside shops at the above-mentioned location.”

According to the LASEMA boss; “The incident was attributed to recklessness by the driver of the articulated truck conveying the twin 20-foot containers.

Five male adults were reportedly initially trapped under the parked truck that was rammed into the roadside shops.

One of them was rescued alive, while three dead bodies were recovered by LASEMA and other emergency responders at the scene.

One of the five victims was still missing at the time of filling this report as emergency responders battled to evacuate the accident vehicles.
