The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that the three headless bodies discovered in a river in Odigbo Local Government Area are not from the state.
The discovery of the bodies floating between Ore and Odigbo communities has caused widespread concern in the area.

Local residents spotted the bodies in the river on Sunday and immediately alerted the authorities.

The positioning of the bodies has raised suspicions that they may have been used for ritualistic purposes before being disposed of in the river.

Olayinka Alayande, the police spokesperson, verified the incident on Wednesday, stating that the local police station had received the report.
However, no individuals have come forward to identify or claim the bodies.
Alayande remarked, “Three bodies were recovered from a river in Odigbo. The matter was reported to the Ore Division, and the DPO dispatched a detective to the scene. The DPO also called on community leaders and other groups to assist in identifying the bodies, urging anyone with information to visit the hospital. No one has been able to identify the bodies as of now.”
“It is believed the bodies were brought from another location and discarded in the river. We don’t think they are from this state, although the river may have carried them here.”
Shileola, a local youth leader, expressed his shock at the discovery, saying, “I was stunned when I heard about it. I immediately went to the scene to try to identify the victims, but there were no clues.”
He speculated that the victims were likely killed elsewhere, as no reports of missing persons had been filed in the community.
