President Bola Tinubu has warmly congratulated His Eminence, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, emeritus Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, as he celebrates his 80th birthday.
In a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), President Tinubu commended Cardinal Onaiyekan for his exceptional leadership in the religious sphere. The Cardinal served as the Archbishop of Abuja from 1994 to 2019 and held various prominent positions within the Christian community in Nigeria.
The statement highlighted that Cardinal Onaiyekan not only preached the gospel but also actively advocated for the less privileged and spoke out against societal ills. President Tinubu acknowledged the Cardinal’s unwavering commitment to peace and unity in Nigeria.
The President expressed gratitude to His Eminence for his sacrifices and efforts in promoting peace in the country. He assured Cardinal Onaiyekan that his prayers for a glorious and united Nigeria will come to fruition.
