The Personal Assistant to the President on Constituency Affairs, Alhaja Khadijat Kareem Omotayo, has declared that President Bola Ahmed is not leading a political or religiously discriminatory government in the face of criticism of government policies from opposition.
She said that it is wrong to associate the administration with any kind of sentiment when it is clear that the president is leading an inclusive government regardless of political background and that instead of blaming the president, people should develop the practice of questioning their representatives.
“We are not running a partisan government; we are not running a religious bigot government, but we are running an inclusive government. Please, let’s come together to build a country that will work for us. We are clamouring to build a Nigeria that works for all Nigerians. We need to ask our representatives a question, not to be attacking Mr. President. Mr. President is old enough to sit at home to say, I am not contesting, but out of patriotism, he wants to bring back renewed hope.
Alhaja Omotayo, while hosting Plateau State stakeholders at a town hall meeting in Jos, also disclosed that it is wrong to attack the presidency on the removal of the subsidy when the proceeds of the removal have started trickling down, most especially to the state.
“I don’t expect us at this time to keep attacking Mr. President on subsidy, Mr. President wants dividend of democracy to reach the states, if Mr. President is a partisan politician he won’t let me come to Plateau State. We all know that Plateau State is a PDP state but I am here to represent him just because he wants to carry everybody along. When it is election period we will fight for it and we will get it after the election we are to govern all the people irrespective of political affiliation.
“This man has removed subsidy yes, but where is the subsidy removal? it has been shared to states. The issue of salary, when last did any government increase salary in Nigeria. I think Mr. President needs a little thank you from us. He has not spend up to two years in office he has increased salary of workers and promised that this would not be end of salary increment”.
On the requests of the stakeholders, the personal assistant to the president on constituency affairs assured that all the requests will be looked into and addressed accordingly, adding that the president is committed to quality access to education and health care services.
“We would work tirelessly to ensure that Plateau State attains its full potential. Concerning abandoned projects in the state, be rest assured that your voice will be held at the national level. The next time I come to Plateau State again, I will come with a massive empowerment program.
There is a desk that is taking care of attendance, we would not throw the list and names you had written away. We would make use of it when the time comes.
“The President is committed to this initiative that will improve life of the people of Plateau State. Mr President is working to upgrade the state infrastructure including roads, bridges and public buildings through the Ministry of Works and Housing. Mr. President is also supporting small scale business, entrepreneurs and farmers to create job opportunities and stimulate economy growth” She said
Earlier, the National first Vice President, Plateau Initiative for Development of the Natives (PIDAN) Gyang Dudu said there are quite a lot of communities in n Plateau State without federal government presence adding that the plight of the people is further worsen by insecurity.
According to him, at the moment, many farmers cannot access their farms for fear of being killed by bandits and called on the federal government to come to the aid of the people by providing them with security.
