The Registrar/Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, has advised newly inducted lecturers in Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo, to acquire more knowledge on digital technology, in other to be globally competitive.
Ajiboye gave the advice during the second induction ceremony of holders of NCE, B.ED, B.Sc Edu, PDE, M.Sc (Edu), M.Ed degrees in the school, described teaching as lucrative, noble, and one of professions actively involved in nation building.
The renowned scholar, admonished the inductees to seek constantly for self-improvement by developing their skills in the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT), saying this would enable them compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe.
The TRCN Registrar/Chief Executive highlighted several opportunities available to teachers in Africa and other countries of the world, stating that presently, more than 45 million teachers are currently needed globally.
He, therefore, admonished the inductees to use the knowledge acquired during the training to improve their lots and said: “Take the certificate given to you to any part of the world, you are going to be recognized. “With our certificate and license, you are free to practice in any part of the globe.”
The Acting Vice- Chancellor, Adeyemi Federal University of Education, (AFUED) Ondo, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, described the occasion as milestone, and a testament of the TRCN’s commitment to excellence, professionalism and dedication to the improvement of the teaching profession.
The Acting University Administrator congratulated the inductees, and urged them to use the knowledge acquired during their training, to mentor, guide and nurture learners, that would be under their tutelage.
Akintunde, also charged them to uphold the ethics of teaching profession, by exhibiting integrity, creativity, inclusivity and embrace continuous learning for improves services”.
Also in her address, the Acting Registrar, AFUED, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, urged the inductees to uphold the standard of teaching profession, and to seek continuously for knowledge acquisition by “attending professional development programmes within and outside the country”.
The programme which held at the Olusegun Obasanjo auditorium in the University, was attended by eminent personalities including Prof. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, Registrar/Chief Executive TRCN; Principal Officers of the University which include: Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Acting Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin and Acting Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) A. F. Afolabi.
Also present was the Ondo State Coordinator, TRCN, Mr. Akande Adesina; Sub-Dean Faculty of Education AFUED, Dr. Mrs. Oyenike Oyinloye; staff from the Directorate of Exams and Records: Assistant Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Olaitan Taiwo; Mrs. Imoisili Happiness Akunna; Mrs. Olakanye Anike Omolara and Mr. Adedugbagbe Felix.
Others who witnessed the occasion, were staff from the University’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations; Department of Music as well as President of the student union AFUED, Comrade Okunade Ibrahim to mention but few.
